Crinum bulbispermum
Doesn't Mind Wet Soils!
Very easy to grow, Orange River Lily (so called because of its native habitat in the Orange River Valley in South Africa) forms a big mounding clump of foliage with bloomstalks rising above the leaves and bearing a candelabrum of anywhere from 8 to a dozen flowers. The blooms are fully 4 inches wide and so fragrant! They begin in late spring in most climates, continuing into early summer. A fine companion in garden or vase to your roses! Sometimes you can even coax a rebloom out of them in fall.
Crinum bulbispermum is the cold-hardiest of the Crinums, and doesn't mind wet or swampy soils. It thrives in deep soils as well, yet also fares well in containers, preferring not to be moved once established. You will find it a carefree addition to the sunny border. Zones 6-10.
