Evergreen in mild climates.

Stands up to drought and thrives in poor, dry soils.
Among the most stunning sights of late spring in the sunny garden, Warminster Broom covers itself in pea-like blooms combining tones of deep salmon, rose, and pink with yellow. Fabulously fragrant, it is nothing short of electrifying in a large planting, and even as a specimen 'Hollandia' steals all focus! No wonder it won the Award of Garden Merit from the Royal Horticulture Society.

Fast-growing and very adaptable, this compact shrub boasts an open habit with long, densely-set branches held up and out in a gracefully arching pattern. The foliage is gray-green, but for many weeks in late spring and early summer, all that is visible are long strands (occasionally clusters) of brilliant color, covering nearly every inch of the shrub! They are fantastically fragrance, the rich scent wafting through the sunny garden.

'Hollandia' thrives in full sun and average to dry soil. It reaches 4 to 5 feet high and 4 to 6 feet wide. Once established, it is very tolerant of drought, wind, and sea spray. It needs no pruning to maintain its fairly symmetrical, very well-branched habit, and is evergreen in mild climates.

Consider 'Hollandia' in a planting with Forsythia. The blooms of these two shrubs will keep the garden colorful from late winter into summer! It is also a friend to the spring bulb garden, beginning to flower just as many of the most beautiful bulbs are passing. Where it is evergreen, consider sprinkling it into the foundation for a color burst. Elsewhere, it is a border and perimeter planting standout! Zones 5-9.
