Koidzuma's Wood Fern
Find a protected spot for this Japanese native.
Lacy and arching, these fronds add delicate texture and superb color to dappled shade, thriving best in consistently moist, neutral soil.
Koidzuma's Wood Fern reaches 18 to 24 inches tall and about 12 to 18 inches wide. Evergreen in mild climates, this leathery foliage plant prefers a sheltered spot in partial shade.
Dryopteris koidzuma was introduced to the U.S. in the 1990s by plantswoman Barbara Hoshizaki. Closely related to D. erythrosara, it is often compared to Autumn Fern 'Brilliance,' but we think its color play is even more exciting and varied. Magnificent! Zones 5-8.
