Evening Star might be the most striking woodland plant ever. Silver stars seem to burst out against the deep green leaves, and the clusters of light and fluffy lavender flowers float delicately above the dark foliage.

The large, round leaves emerge with a flash of copper and bronze in spring before transitioning to a deep green with silver star-like veins for an attractive color show. In mid spring to late summer, clusters of tiny, light purple blooms make an appearance. The fluffy flowers are supported on long, deep red stems that surpass the low-growing foliage by about 4 inches.

Reaching about 12 inches high and wide, Evening Star is perfect for containers and borders. The clusters of blooms make great cut flowers, and add new dimension to any vase arrangement. A good companion for a variety of plants, this perennial will come back again and again without overtaking its neighbors.

Not only will you be inspired by this woodland plant, but so will the butterflies and bees! They will keep coming back for more when you introduce this little guy in your garden. Evening Star enjoys part to full shade and moist, well-drained soil. Zones 4-9.
