Opening its first blooms a week or so before most others, 'Exotica' lives up to its name with an unusual play of colors and a fascinating flower form. Absolutely spectacular, this winter bloomer puts traditional white and red Amaryllis to shame with its layers of distinctive colors! When you're ready for an entirely different look for the indoor winter garden, 'Exotica' is the one you must have!
The flowers reach 8 to 10 inches wide, with a giant "top flower" of overlapping petals combining yellow, orange, peach, melon, and salmon. There is almost a netting of darker-colored veins above the base color, creating a look that from afar appears to be a solid color (with a tiny lime-green "star" at the center!), but upon closer inspection is an intricate web of bold shades! Beneath this flower are shorter, less developed petals of pale green, often sporting peach or salmon tones on their ruffled edges. Very distinctive and beautiful!
'Exotica' reaches 20 to 24 inches high, with multiple blooms on every flowering scape, so be sure to stake it for best results. These flowers last and last, and you'll want to enjoy every moment of their beauty! What a dramatically different look for the holiday home, or for any winter display. Zones 8-11.
