Plant Patent #15,715. Discovered as a seedling in a Tasmanian garden, this intriguing Spurge displays narrow, linear foliage of blue-green edged with creamy white, arranged in whorls around upright stems that occasionally show a purple blush. Even the blooms on this perennial beauty are variegated! In late spring to early summer, these compact plants are topped with large flower bracts of pale yellow and cream that reveal green 'bowtie' centers.
Evergreen in areas with warm winters, drought-tolerant 'Tasmanian Tiger' grows best in a full sun to part shade location. Although excellent drainage is critical for success, some moisture is appreciated during extremely dry periods. Pests and disease do not pose any problems, but do be careful to wear gloves as protection against the milky sap that exudes from broken stems. Growing 2 to 3 feet tall and wide, 'Tasmanian Tiger' creates an outstanding effect when grown in a group. Zones 6-10.
