An exquisite specimen for bonsai or containers of all kinds — even in small-space gardens and accent plantings — 'Pygmaea' offers a spreading, arching habit with bright green foliage that turns bronze shades in autumn. Just 3 feet high and 5 feet wide at maturity, it is so slow growing that the photo shows a 10-year-old specimen!
Best in moist, well-drained soil and full sun in all but the most southerly climates, it offers reddish-brown shoots with fern-like foliage in summer. Content in humid climates, it needs only protection from strong, drying winds. Highly recommended for trough gardens, mixed containers, and other accents where evergreen foliage and fine texture is valued. Zones 4-8.
