Most lace-leaf Japanese Maples are slow-growing with a weeping habit, but 'Seiryu' is an unusual, fast-growing and upright selection with a pleasing multi-stemmed vase shape. Its finely cut, lacy spring and summer foliage is bright green with red margins and transforms to a breathtaking array of crimson and gold in autumn. Despite its graceful, delicate appearance, 'Seiryu', meaning "Green Dragon," is one of the strongest and most vigorous Japanese Maples. And although it's at home in a dappled shade location, 'Seiryu' takes sun much better than most lace-leaf Japanese Maples. It quickly reaches a mature height of 10 to 15 feet with a mature spread of 8 to 12 feet and is well-suited as a focal point in woodland borders or large patio containers. Zones 5-9.
