The Shirley is an outstanding English Foxglove. Magnificent flowerheads crowded with big, bell-shaped blossoms cover the top part of sturdy 3-foot stems. Colors range from white and shell pink to deep rose, often dotted with crimson or chocolate. A biennial variety, it reseeds itself freely to provide ongoing years of effect and is a fine cut flower.Foxlgove is a favorite biennial or perennial for borders, sending up sturdy spikes bearing large, bell-shaped flowers in a wide range of colors, often attractively mottled. Its foliage is particularly nice, forming a neat rosette, and it is best grown in moist, well-drained soil in partial shade. Space 12 to 15 inches apart, except where indicated. Divide every other year. Zones 4-9.
