Plant Patent #16,054. With all the exciting new colors and forms of Echinacea lately, there has only been one thing missing: FRAGRANCE. And now that 'Fragrant Angel' is here, we can truly say that Echinacea has it all!
These blooms are 4 to 5 inches wide, with a double row of long, slender white petals surrounding a large orange cone. They arise atop sturdy, stiff stems that won't flop over in summer heat, making them a good choice for cutting as well as garden use. And the sweet scent is so enticing, wafting through the garden or home!
The blooms begin in midsummer and continue well into fall, particularly if they're cut or deadheaded promptly. They arise on plants 30 inches tall and 24 inches wide — compact enough for containers and small-space gardens!
Be sure to leave the last blooms on the plant, for birds adore the seed-filled cones and will pose on this Coneflower throughout autumn and into winter, pecking out the last treats of the season.
Echinacea is tolerant of adverse conditions from dry, poor soil to heat and humidity. It thrives in full sun but will tolerate a bit of shade, and needs very little care once established in the garden. Give 'Fragrant Angel' a place of honor in your landscape this season! Zones 3-8.
