If this bright Daylily doesn't catch your eye and capture your heart, you aren't looking hard enough! The brilliant orange petals, hot red eye, and subtle scent of these blooms make them favorites in gardens across the country. And when you realize that they're easy to grow, very long-blooming, and heavily budded for more flowers per plant, what's not to love about 'Bold Tiger'?The blooms are 4½ inches across, with ruffled, slightly bent-back petals of neon orange. Their scent is light and sweet, repaying a closer look at that distinctive large red eye. The blooms arise for many, many weeks in midsummer on plants that are very well-branched for extra buds on every flowering stem. You will be amazed at the performance of this Daylily -- its bloom season is intense and showstopping!
Hardy from one end of the country to the other, this plant reaches 28 inches high and 18 to 24 inches wide. Like most Daylilies, 'Bold Tiger' is wonderfully resistant to drought, heat, and humidity, and thrives in any soil, even those of poor fertility. It can be sheared mercilessly in late fall, only to return with fresh beauty in spring. Very long-lived and as tough as nails, it is one of the few perennials that we would truly call carefree.
'Bold Tiger' was introduced by Patrick Stamile, and has been designated a Designer Daylily™ for its vigor, resistance to adversity, and bloom sterngth. Space plants 18 to 24 inches apart in full sun and moist, well-drained soil, and water well the first year to get them established. Hardy in zones 3-9.
