Plant Patent #18,546. Cultivar name: 'CGB Cone2'. At last, an Echinacea compact enough to grow in containers, the front of the border, and other "up close" locations! Pixie Meadowbrite™ is a large-flowered true dwarf with vigorous growth, excellent branching, and a long season of bloom. It's as useful for cutting as it is for garden (or container) growth, and should be a part of every landscape with room for one more sun-loving perennial!
Although this plant is only 18 to 20 inches high and 24 inches wide, it is so well-branched that it sets 15 or more blooms the first year! And such blooms they are — 2 1/2 to 3 inches wide, with slender, closely spaced, horizontal pink petals surrounding a large amber cone. They arise on stalks as thick as pencils, which last a long, long time after cutting.
The foliage on Pixie Meadowbrite™ is more dense than other Echinaceas' as well, with a blue-green cast that contrasts nicely with nearby green- and gold-leafed plants. This is a plant that looks handsome and healthy out of bloom as well as in — but considering that it flowers from early summer until well into fall, you won't get much chance to appreciate it without buds and blooms!
Pixie Meadowbrite™ was developed by Dr. Jim Ault. It is a cross of E. tennesseensis x purpurea and E. angustifolia x tennesseensis. You will appreciate its true dwarf habit, heavy flowering, and lush foliage. Make it a part of your patio display, sunny border, and accent plantings this season! Zones 4-9.
