The showiest Meadow Rue ever developed, Black Stockings delights with large, flattopped clusters of lavender-pink blooms atop bold, nearly black stems. Fully 4 feet tall, this is a superb "background" plant for the border, but also makes a fine cut and is a butterfly magnet. Include it in the sunny to partly shaded garden this season, and you will be amazed by its beauty and versatility.The flowers are airy and puffy, borne in great clusters that look magnificent in a large planting. Expect them to arise in late spring and early summer, remaining for many weeks. Their color is intensified by the contrast with the ebony-hued stems below.
Black Stockings reaches 4 feet tall and 2 feet wide, and is quite easy to grow, adaptable to a variety of climates, and tolerant of stress. Zones 5-9.
