Rhododendron Capistrano is a Wayside Original Introduction and we think it is destined to become a classic. Frilly, rich lemon-yellow flowers are freely produced midseason in large, rounded trusses. Dark green leaves are somewhat rounded at the apex. The late Dr. David Leach, a pioneer in the development of hardy Rhododendrons for American gardens, considered this to be his best yellow. Plant it in your garden and we're sure you'll think so too!
Growth habit of 'Capistrano' is compact and spreading, reaching 4 to 5 feet tall and 5 to 6 feet wide at maturity. This plant has a very disease-and pest-resistant constitution. Zones 5-8.
