Goodbye, Flat Petals! Hello, Trumpets!
An entirely new look for the beloved Blanket Flower!
Plant Patent #15,892. Sound the trumpets and clear out your best sunny garden spots -- the long-awaited, much-rumored new Gaillardia is here, with astonishing blooms packed with mini-trumpet petals on a compact, very free-blooming plant. Absolutely the most distinctive development in Gaillardia's history, 'Fanfare' is THE perennial you must grow this spring!

You simply won't believe these blooms! They boast the familiar deep yellows and tangerine oranges and russets you expect from Blanket Flower, but there the resemblance to all other Gaillardia flowers ends. For, surrounding the large central cone are not slender, Sunflower-like petals but a circlet of brilliantly colored, perfectly formed miniature trumpets!

You're not going to have to wait long for them to show up, either. For not only is 'Fanfare' an entirely new look in Gaillardia, it's about the most floriferous variety to come along in a while, too. Expect the flowers to begin with the first seriously warm weather of late spring and continue NONSTOP through the summer and into fall! May through September is not an unreasonable expectation in temperate to warm parts of the country.

Despite all this flower power, the plant itself is quite compact, topping out at about 14 inches high and 18 inches wide. Perfect for containers, it also thrives in just about any garden soil provided the drainage is good -- just give it plenty of sun and let it bloom through the worst heat, humidity, and even drought your climate has to offer! It even withstands unseasonable cold and poor, infertile soil. Space these plants 18 inches apart in full sun. They will bloom well even the first year. Zones 3-10.
