This charming dwarf Colorado Blue Spruce is just the right size for a place of honor in your garden, up close where you can enjoy its crisp, Christmas-y smell and touch its lovely silver-backed blue foliage. Slowly reaching 3 1/2 feet tall and up to 7 feet wide, it is the perfect accent planting beside the entryway or on the patio, a striking container choice, and a splendid front-of-the-border edging!Unlike some of our popular groundcovers, 'Glauca Globosa' does not sprawl nor meander, but forms a plump, neat little mound filled with fat, short candles. The 1-inch-long, steel-blue foliage has a silver reverse, creating a glittering presence in any setting. The foliage is evergreen, yet still manages some color changes -- in spring, the new needles emerge a lighter, more silvery tone than the mature foliage, for a superb contrast.
'Glauca Globosa' flourishes in very cold climates, yet is hardy into zone 8 if provided with partial shade and well-drained, light soil (it cannot tolerate heavy clay). Trouble free and very long-lived, it is happiest in full sun farther north. Zones 2-8.
