Syn. A. japonicum var. 'Aureum'. Highly prized and hard to find form of the species. Spring foliage is a distinctive yellow-green that darkens in summer, with a spectacular blend of orange and red fall foliage occasionally suffused with purple.
In summer, bright red fruit often peeks from under dense leaves. Compact of habit, bushy, and freely branched, slowly attaining a mature height of 12 to 15 feet, with a slightly wider spread. Best in semi-shade. Zones 5-7.
