Glowing Green Blooms!
Sweetly fragrant.
Plant Patent #18,678. Yet another stunning compact, fragrant Echinacea cultivar from renowned garden designer Piet Oudolf! 'Green Jewel' lives up to its name with petals so bright they nearly glow, set in a double row around a very large darker green cone. This exciting new Echinacea is a must-have for gardeners everywhere.

The blooms measure 3 to 5 inches wide, with two rows of somewhat short, broad, delightfully curled and ruffled petals surrounding a deep green cone. Just 20 to 24 inches high in bloom, this plant is ultra-compact, yet it sets dozens of blooms over its long mid- through late summer season. And the fragrance is heavenly -- sweet and pure, like the essence of the old-fashioned cottage flower garden!

'Green Jewel' may be much smaller, more fragrant, and differently colored from the traditional Purple Coneflower, yet it is much like its wildflower cousins. It is tolerant of heat, humidity, drought, cold, and even poor soil, thriving in full sunshine and well-drained soil just about everywhere. Its blooms bring butterflies in summer and songbirds in autumn (they eat the seed-filled cones), and even the bare stalks add nice texture to the early-winter garden. Combine with other Echinacea in garden and container. Zones 3-8.
