Small Tricolor Leaves with a Big Impact
A sport of H. 'Loyalist.'
Plant Patent #16,062. PBR. The elegant vase shape and long, pale cream leaves of this Hosta make it a standout in garden and vase. Just 10 inches high and 8 inches wide, it creates an impact in both color and architecture, adding nice contrast to the large-leafed, sprawling Hostas in the partly to fully shaded garden. 'Fireworks' is a sport of the favorite H. 'Loyalist,' with delicately rippled, erect leaves 4 inches long and 1 1/2 inches wide. A soft creamy-cucumber shade in the center, it is lightly veined and edged first in spring-green, then in deep green. Irregular and very slim, the edging enhances the elongated, slender shape of this plant. They are topped by pale lavender blooms in midsummer, but these are insignificant and may be snipped. This Hosta makes a charming container subject, and combines nicely with miniature and groundcover Hostas, where its tall, slender silhouette shows to best effect. Easy to grow in partial to full shade. Zones 3-8.
