7-inch Blooms on the Easiest Plants You'll Ever Love!
Years of increasing beauty from this carefree sun-lover!
'Big Smile' is exactly what you'll be wearing when the first of many, many blooms opens up on this charming new Daylily. An unusual color combination in Hemerocallis -- soft pastel peach along the ruffled edges of deep, buttery yellow petals -- 'Big Smile's blooms reach an incredible 7 inches across, filling the garden with glowing midsummer color! Daylilies are just about the easiest perennial plants you can grow, and 'Big Smile' is even more appealing than most because of its compact habit. Just 2 feet tall and about a foot wide, this beauty is small enough to put in a container, yet has a huge impact in the garden. It's very rare to see such enormous flowers on a compact plant -- they look even bigger against the narrow, strap-like, casacding foliage! 'Big Smile' begins its blooms in midsummer, continuing right through the hottest days. Although each flower lasts only one day (which is where the name comes from), dozens more arise to replace it for weeks and weeks of color! Hardy just about anywhere in the U.S., this plant is super-tough, laughing at rough winters and sweltering summers alike. Eventually it will grow so large that it needs to be divided (one clean whack with a sharp knife takes care of that!), and then you'll have even more glorious color for any sunny, well-drained garden spot! Zones 3-9.
