Move the Clematis Garden Indoors!
This ultra-compact variety reaches just a foot high, but grows and blooms as well indoors as out.
Cultivar name: 'EVIpo030' Showy mauve blooms faintly striped in dark pink reach 3 to 4 inches across, their ruffled petal edges coming to a neat point for a starry effect. A lovely color and a respectable size, these flowers would be quite usual for a Clematis . . . except that Bijou™ is only a foot high! Bred for indoor or outdoor culture by master Clematarian Raymond J. Evison of Guernsey, Bijou™ brings the Clematis garden indoors, which is just where we like it! (The closer the better where this lovely climber is concerned!) Thriving equally well in full sun outdoors and bright indirect light indoors, Bijou™ flowers dependably. In fact, if grown indoors it can be trimmed and repotted after bloom, assuring you of another flower show within the year. So compact that it appears dwarf, this up-and-coming little plant has great bloom strength and a vigorous nature. If you want to plant it outdoors after enjoying a season or two inside, Bijou™ is quite amenable. It is in Pruning Group II, and should be treated just like any other Clematis out of doors (it is hardy to zone 4). What a versatile, amazing plant! Give this climber some support for its stems, and expect it to take a season to "settle" before beginning its ultra-reliable pattern of growth and bloom. What a fine gift it makes to a gardener pent up in the city, or working in an office every day! Bijou™ likes fluorescent light, and will flourish in such conditions if given good potting soil and regular food and water. Find a special place (or two) for lovely Bijou™ this season! Zones 4-9.
