Wayside's Clematis Collector's Trio (30360)

Pale flowers are simply unforgettable!

This rare heirloom has been a gardening favorite since introduction in 1875!

Introduced in 1875, this rare heirloom bears fluffy, fully double, 4-inch pompons that are unlike any other large-flowered hybrid. Their delicate complexion of palest pink fades to soft silvery-mauve, creating an unforgettable effect as great clouds appear in early summer and seem to glow in morning and at dusk. It reaches 6 to 8 feet tall, making it an ideal choice for containers, borders, or threading through open-habit shrubs like roses.

Clematis is easy to grow in a rich, porous, alkaline soil with plenty of room for the roots to spread. Best performance is when the tops are in full sunlight and the roots are shaded, so apply a generous mulch or a shallow-rooted ground cover near the base of the vine. Very reliable performers once established, they take a season or two to get going. 'Belle of Woking' is a Group II Clematis for pruning purposes, which means that in early spring you should cut back the vine 6 or 8 inches to the nearest pair of strong leaf axil buds. Zones 4-9.
