A New Color for Yew!

Keeps its color in all lights and soils!

Plant Patent #16,049, cbraf. Cultivar name: Geers.

Here's an entirely new look for Yew -- bold, bright lime-green! A compact shrub with a nicely rounded habit, Margarita™ makes a charming anchor plant in the border, a delightful low hedge, and even a specimen for a patio or other small-space setting!

Just 4 to 6 feet high and wide, this evergreen Conifer sports new leaves of bright yellow each spring, contrasting nicely with the older tones of chartreuse and lime from previous years' growth. It really stands out against darker-leafed trees and shrubs such as Boxwood and Spruce, and is so compact that you can use it among your perennials, too!

Margarita™ was developed by plantsman Arie Geers of the Netherlands, and has proven very adaptable. It favors partial shade but can tolerate full sun, keeping its color even in hot summers. And it's happy in a wide variety of soils, provided the drainage is good. Like all Yews, it is deer-resistant, making it a good choice for perimeter plantings.

Space these plants about 5 feet apart for a lovely low hedge or ribbon of color through the garden. Zones 3-7.
