The Most Colorful Hosta Yet!
Hosta 'Designer Genes'
Holds tiny purple blooms high above foliage for weeks.
Keeps color even in summer heat.
Keeping its yellow tones far longer than others, this exceptional medium-sized Hosta regales with a combination of yellow and red tones. In spring, the new leaves open brilliant yellow on claret-red stems. They keep their color through the worst summer heat, becoming chartreuse only late in summer. The petioles remain red all season, and are joined by slender red 24-inch flowerstems holding tiny purple blooms high above the foliage for several weeks. Highly recommended, this superb cultivar is the brightest member of the Hosta garden! Zones 3-9.
