Hosta 'Hudson Bay' PPAF
Fabulous gradations of color!
Strong, vigorous, and substantial, this marvelous tricolored beauty offers terrific slug resistance from an early age, plus rich color from spring until frost. Descended from 'Eskimo Pie,' it sports cream, apple green, and bright blue foliage on a substantial habit.
Reaching 2 feet high and wide, this gracefully mounded plant sports long, pointed leaves with a creamy center, flares of apple-green, and outer edges of deep blue. The foliage is very thick even from a young age, discouraging snails and slugs from nibbling.
In early summer, near-white blooms arise from the center on slender 26-inch scapes. Attractive to hummingbirds but not especially ornamental, they can be left on the plant or removed for use in the vase.
'Hudson Bay' is a Proven Winner® variety, thanks to its exceptional color play, substantial leaf thickness, and symmetrical shape. Of impeccable breeding, it has H. sieboldiana in its background. Like all Hostas, it is highly adaptable and impervious to stress, but it also quite vigorous and robust. Enjoy it for many years to come! Zones 3-9.
