In late summer, rich purple plumes top this grass, turning to creamy tan for autumn and winter.

Horizontal gold banding remains right through the summer heat, for a really striking effect.
Plant Patent 13,008

One of the best plants for winter interest in the garden is also beautiful in spring, summer, and fall -- easy-care Dwarf Zebra Grass! Little Zebra is a new cultivar that keeps its horizontal gold banding right through the summer heat, is shorter and more upright than other varieties, and offers brilliant blooms from late summer right through winter.

The "stripes" on this bright green grass are bold, eye-catching, and charming, with no two leaves looking just alike. They create a colorful effect in any setting -- as a screen or barrier planting, along the water's edge, in containers, or as a mass planting.

In late summer, the plant is topped by 1-foot plumes of rich wine-violet, which keep this color until the cold weather of late fall sets in. Then they turn cream and remain elegant and erect all winter, adding lovely color and texture to the winter garden. Cut all you like for indoor arrangements, too -- they last for many months when dried.

Little Zebra is very tolerant of drainage issues and varying soil quality. It thrives in quite damp waterside settings, as well as arid sunny slopes. Do not fertilize this grass; it does best with simple water and soil! Best color is in full sun, but it can stand a bit of afternoon shade if necessary.

Reaching 4 feet tall and 2 to 3 feet wide, Little Zebra is an extraordinary Miscanthus for a variety of settings. Find a place of honor for it this season in your garden! Zones 5-9.
