Switchgrass 'Dewey Blue'
Blue-tinged flowers appear in late summer to early fall, and then are followed by beige seed heads that persist into winter.
It typically reaches 3 to 4 feet tall, and grows best in dry sand and loamy soils, spreading slowly by rhizomes to form a dense, ornate clump. Plant it in average, well-drained, dry to medium moisture soils in full sun to part shade. 'Dewey Blue' creates a wonderful accent or group planting, and makes itself at home in borders as well as prairies and meadows. Zones 2-9.
