Panicum virgatum Ruby Ribbons™ PP#17,944
Easy to Grow, Even in Damp, Poorly-draining Soils
With fascinating color changes for every season, this native Switchgrass offers the perfect complement to any sunny, moist to damp soil. In spring the new leaves emerge bluish-gray, only to acquire red streaks within several weeks. By summer's end they are solid deep red to purple, topped by 4-foot red flowerspikes that turn beige in cold weather but remain well into winter. Left alone by deer, this ornamental grass is a stellar addition to the garden. Zones 3-9.
