Pieris japonica 'Valley Rose'
What an elegant way to greet spring!
The blooms open a deep, plummy shade of rose, then quickly mature to pink and white, held on showy cinnamon-colored stems against pointed deep green foliage. They remain for many weeks, greeting the new growing year with unforgettable beauty.
'Valley Rose' is tall and somewhat open, with evergreen foliage that unfurls in spring with handsome bronze hues. Content in any well-drained soil with protection from full sun, it is quite disease-resistant and easy to grow. Consider it for the border, the foundation, along the driveway, or as a specimen. It combines well with other Pieris, as well as with later-blooming shrubs such as Rhododendron and Deutzia. It is also a fine companion to spring-blooming bulbs.
This shrub reaches 6 to 8 feet tall and 3 to 5 feet wide. Find a place of honor for it in your garden! Zones 5-7.
