Truly one of the finest landscaping subjects, Bottlebrush Buckeye is too little used in the United States but widely appreciated in Europe. Ideal for many uses -- as an isolated lawn specimen, or planting in mass on difficult banks and slopes -- it provides a graceful, airy look PLUS dense coverage!

This spreading, mound-shaped plant grows up to 10 feet tall and wide, with large, deep green leaves held out almost horizontally, for a nicely "tiered" look. In midsummer, masses of 8- to 12-inch white flowerspikes appear, poking up and out in all directions! Their interesting shape gives the Bottlebrush its common name. And when Fall arrives, the showy leaves turn yellow and light orange!

Remarkably disease-resistant, Bottlebush Buckeye grows well in sun or part shade in a moisture-retentive, slightly acidic soil. For dense coverage, space the shrubs about 8 feet apart. Zones 4-9.
