One of the best climbers ever grown for American gardens, this All-American Rose Selection winner from 1976 continues to be a favorite across the country. Who can resist these 4- to 5-inch blooms, suffused with color and fragrance, on a vigorous climbing plant?
America quickly reaches 10 to 12 feet tall and 6 to 8 feet wide, with lush deep green foliage banking the bright blooms. Each flower is fully double, sporting up to 30 petals of rich pink highlighted in coral, apricot, and salmon tones. The petal reverses are lighter, creating a nice two-tone look as they slowly open from pointed ovoid buds. And the scent is magnificent, combining cloves with a sweeter, more fruity aroma.
This climber was introduced by Bill Warriner, long-time rose breeder for our friends at Jackson & Perkins. It is a cross of R. Fragrant Cloud x Tradition. You will find it dependable, long-lived, and eager to repeat its flower show all summer long.
