Also known as Box Huckleberry, this compact shrub is a delightful addition to the landscape that boasts multi-seasonal interest. Berried Treasure is a good mix of flowers, fruit and glossy evergreen foliage that turns red in fall. In spring it sports small white blooms which later become tasty edible blue berries. The berries are like traditional blueberries except they have fewer and larger seeds. 'Berried Treasure' grows low to the ground making it an excellent groundcover and a reliable interest for years to come. The foliage rises about a foot or so off the ground from ample rhizomes and its flowers attract butterflies and are also a great boost for local bee populations. This shrub prefers partial shade and is great for naturalizing.
