Description / Black Cherry Floribunda Rose

This award-winning 2006 Floribunda of the Year from Jackson & Perkins, bred by renowned hybridizer Dr. Keith Zary, delivers breathtaking beauty from bud to bloom. Black Cherry Floribunda Rose sets clusters of nearly black, pointed buds that unfurl into velvety, dark red blooms. These exquisitely formed flowers reach 3 to 4 inches wide, featuring 20 to 25 fade-proof petals. Each bloom stands on 14- to 18-inch stems, releasing a rich, old-fashioned damask fragrance, making them ideal for cutting and long-lasting floral arrangements.

Beginning its display in early summer, Black Cherry Floribunda Rose blooms in continuous waves throughout the season with proper deadheading. It’s a vigorous, easy-to-grow rose variety thrives in warm climates, boasts exceptional heat tolerance, and strong resistance to rust and powdery mildew, ensuring reliable performance in gardens where other roses may struggle.

Versatile and stunning, Black Cherry Floribunda Rose makes an excellent choice for low hedges, border accents, and even container plantings. Reaching a mature size of 3 to 4 feet high and wide, its glossy, medium-green foliage remains attractive and healthy all season, providing a perfect backdrop for its striking red blooms.

For best results, prune Black Cherry Floribunda Rose in spring by removing any dead or diseased wood and crossing canes. In warmer climates, trim back by about one-third to encourage fresh, vigorous growth and abundant flowering throughout the growing season.

NOTE: Tree and patio roses are hardy to Zone 6 regardless of the rose variety grafted to their tops.
