Black Cherry Floribunda Rose

Our 2006 Floribunda of the Year, bred by renowned hybridizer, Dr. Keith Zary, is marvelous from bud to bloom, setting clusters of pointed, ovoid buds that are nearly black. Once they open, the exquisitely formed, dark red blooms are 3 to 4 inches wide, comprised of 20 to 25 petals, and fade proof. Standing atop 14- to 18-inch stems, they emit a lovely old-fashioned damask fragrance and make wonderful cut flowers, displaying a dazzling bouquet on each branch and proving quite long-lasting in the vase.

Black Cherry Floribunda Rose begins blooming in early summer and keeps on going in waves all season long, especially if it's promptly deadheaded. Suitable as a low hedge or container plant as well as a border standout, Black Cherry Floribunda Rose reaches a mature size of 3 to 4 feet high and wide, its glossy, medium green foliage staying healthy and attractive all season long.

Prune Black Cherry Floribunda Rose in spring by cutting back any dead or diseased wood and any canes that cross. Cut back by about one third in warmer climates, a bit more, trim a little more than that.

NOTE: Tree and patio roses are hardy to Zone 6 regardless of the rose variety grafted to their tops.
