Description / Blue Moon Wisteria

A remarkable cultivar of our native Kentucky Wisteria, 'Blue Moon' is cold-hardy to -40 degrees Fahrenheit with no loss of flowering ability and reblooms to assure you of fragrant flowers for months. Vigorous, quick-growing, and tirelessly floriferous, this Wisteria produces large, showy, lilac-blue flowers held in foot-long racemes like enormous clusters of grapes. The fragrance is sweet and intense, so plant Blue Moon where it can share its scent with garden visitors and near open windows and doors! The first flush of bloom is in early summer, with a brief rest before repeats. Imagine all the flowers you will have for vases as well as garden enjoyment!

'Blue Moon' is also fully hardy, not only able to withstand severe winters but to bloom afterwards. Bred in Minnesota, it has weathered -40 degrees Fahrenheit without damage.

Blue Moon is a vigorous, quick-growing vine, reaching 25 feet long within just a few years. It needs no pruning, and only should be trimmed back if necessary after the final flowering. Let it race across pergolas, over arches, and up trellises and other strong supports, dangling its huge blooms along the way. A fully-blooming 'Blue Moon' is a breathtaking sight!

Give this vine as much sunlight as possible for best flowering. It flourishes in moist, well-drained soil enriched with compost and other organics. Zones 3-9.

Healthy Plant Arrived
Review by Debbie Meeks
My Blue Moon Wisteria arrived on Wednesday. Upon opening the box I was pleased with the care they took in boxing them up. Plenty of cushioning in the box to keep them safe. Once getting the plants out I found them to be of top quality and am very well pleased. I bought 2 of these to replace 2 of another variety (purchased from local green house) which have been growing for 5 yrs and have never bloomed. I am anxious to see these to showcase their beauty in my yard.
