Description / Brigadoon Hybrid Tea Rose
Bred right here at Jackson & Perkins, and an All-American Rose Selections (AARS) Winner in 1992, the year it was introduced, this classic hybrid tea has blooms that only get better with age, not just aging gracefully, but maturing magnificently.
Appearing in flushes throughout the season, long, pointed, ovoid buds expand to create 5-inch, high-centered blooms, endowed with up to 35 petals in vivid coral tones, which deepen in intensity over the long life of the flower, remaining beautiful long after others have faded. The flowers smell subtly spicy making it an especially nice cut flower.
With an upright habit, the bush grows up to 4 feet in height and width and has lush, semigloss, dark green foliage. It thrives in full sun in beds, borders, and containers. For best results, plant in moist, well-drained soil. Spring pruning should include the removal of old canes and dead or diseased wood. Also, cut back canes that cross over each other. If you live in a warm climate, cut back the remaining canes by about one third. Colder areas will probably require a bit more pruning than that.
Remove spent blossoms to facilitate reblooming. Provide freeze protection in the spring with winter protection if grown in a container.
