Description
A red fancy-leafed caladium, Brandywine, also known as Irene Dank, is an old, very hearty caladium variety with exceptionally large deep red leaves, red veins, and minimal dark green margins. The medium to tall plant prefers dappled to full shade, but in heavily shaded locations the red color tends to fade to pink.
Thriving in heat and humidity, this easy-to grow tropical foliage plant should be planted in average to moist soil that has a temperature of at least 70 degrees Fahrenheit. Caladium bulbs originated in the Amazon Basin, which is why they require and thrive in the warm summer day and night temperatures.
