Zone Compatibility
The USDA hardiness zones offer a guide to varieties that will grow well in certain climates. Each zone corresponds to the minimum winter temperatures experienced in a given area. Make sure that your hardiness zone lies within the zone compatibility range of this variety before ordering.
Description
These 2-inch blooms are simply drenched with color, arising on 12- to 18-inch stems just perfect for cutting. In the garden or vase, they are long-lasting and lovely, arising in shades of bright red, bubblegum pink, azure blue, and clean white, plus interesting bicolors and combinations. What a nice alternative to yellow Daffodils for the spring garden!
The De Caen Anemones were developed in the 1700s and have been garden mainstays ever since. They're hardy in zones 7-10, but if you live north of zone 6, don't despair! Pot up the bulbs (actually tubers) in late winter, then plant it outside after danger of frost. If you live within De Caen's hardiness range, plant the tuber in fall, setting it about 3 inches deep in the garden, or just beneath the soil in containers. De Caen grows easily and is distasteful to deer, making it a good choice for perimeter plantings or woodland gardens in deer-ridden areas. Zones 7-10.
