Description / Burning Hearts Bleeding Heart

Simply the longest-blooming Dicentra we have ever seen, this lovely Bleeding Heart offers striking two-toned flowers all summer long! Perfect for garden or container, this shade-lover is a splendid addition to any garden.

The flowers have a lovely locket shape and two bright colors: rich rosy red surrounded by a clean white edge. They appear above deeply divided glaucous blue-gray foliage with a ferny look on compact, nicely mounded plants in shade to partial sun. Be sure to give Burning Hearts plenty of water and enriched soil. Keeping the plant well hydrated is the key to its long bloomtime. When stressed for water, it will begin its dormancy period.

Great vigor is another merit of Burning Hearts. It sets more flowers over a much longer period than older varieties, yet retains its very compact, mounded form. Just 10 to 12 inches tall and 15 to 18 inches wide, it is a fine choice for the border or container.

Burning Hearts is a glorious addition to the shade. Find a place of honor for this exceptional new perennial!

WARNING!
Review by Scott, CT Certified Nursery Person
This one is NOT like any bleeding heart you have grown! The cross with Dicentra peregrina, a little rock garden plant from Japan, make this one better in full sun and drier conditions than any Dicentra I have ever grown. Treat it almost like a sedum or you'll rot it! Southern guys, keep it shaded, but dry...
