One of the advantages of this lineage is that the plant sprouts rather earlier than other plants in the same family. After sprouting, it quickly and steadily grows. The leaves on a mature plant are approximately seven inches wide and one foot long. The leaves are heart-shaped and each one has rose colored veins radiating from a central midrib, edging of a dark green color and an abundance of white spots.
