This sun-loving tree erupts into streamers of fragrant white flowers in spring that go well with its verdant ovoid foliage. In fall its leaves turn bright golden that positively glow against its dark, dappled bark. It thrives in full sun and is tolerant of drought and for all its beauty it has very unfussy care requirements.

Commonly called the American yellowwood, this tree can grow 30-50 feet tall when matured. Although new trees may not bloom for the first 2 or 3 years, the flowers are magnificent when they decide to take center stage. This is an excellent tree for small yards and can even be planted near a patio as the roots grow deep.
