But this butterfly bush is like no other: It has a unique weeping habit, with elegant willowy branches that are long, slender, and gracefully arching. And in spring, the fountaining stems are laden with lavender flowers that beckon to bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds. The flowers make stunning spring bouquets or additions to cut flower arrangements.
A Buddleia alternifolia cultivar, commonly called butterfly bush or fountain butterfly bush, Mop Top is a small, multi-stemmed shrub that works well as a specimen or mass planting in beds and borders. It's a great option for small-space gardens and it's a must-have in a pollinator garden.
Buddleia Mop Top is cold hardy to Zone 4, a full Zone hardier than Buddleia davidii varieties. It grows best in a sunny location with average, freely drainage soil with a slightly alkaline pH . The shrub tolerates drought and resists disease and damage from deer.
