Description / Rubus calycinoides
Rubus calycinoides, also known as creeping raspberry, is an evergreen groundcover that forms a dense carpet adorned with long spreading branches covered with lustrous, emerald green, textured leaves. They turn a raspberry red color when cool fall weather rolls in for some autumn color change you'll adore. Small white flowers, reminiscent of strawberry blossoms, are produced from late spring to early summer and followed by bright golden fruits.
Spreading at a moderate rate, Rubus calycinoides makes a durable groundcover with beautiful foliage for sun or partial shade areas. It is in excellent pest-free lawn replacement and will handle light foot traffic. It's a full sun to part shade lover and is best grown in well drained soil. Regular watering helps establishing this plant. Once established Rubus calycinoides only needs occasional watering during dry times. It's also drought tolerant and deer resistant. Add it to your landscape for a groundcover with plenty of seasonal interest.
