Description / Chokeberry Viking
The foliage on the Aronia Viking is medium- to dark- green in the summer, but it turns a brilliant red in the fall. In late summer, the plant produces many sweet berries, and they hang on the branches all through the winter. You can eat the berries produced by this Aronia, and they are commonly known as choke berries.
Some describe the taste of choke berries as like a dry wine, so if you think you'll enjoy this flavor, you'll even like eating them raw. If you don't, be rest assured that these berries are excellent for jams and jellies. You can also use them in baking. You won't need to purchase another plant to produce the berries, as it is self-pollinating. While the plant height ranges from three feet to five feet, the width of the plant can grow as large as six feet, so you'll need plenty of room for your Aronia Viking. Aronia Vikings are tolerant of heat and drought, and they are hardy in cold conditions as well. Vikings are hardy plants that enjoy partial shade or full sun, and they grow best in well-drained soil. Vikings thrive in planting zones 3 through 8. Please note that we cannot ship to Canada, Guam, Hawaii, the Virgin Islands, or Puerto Rico due to state restrictions.
