Patriotic Festival Blend is a mix of tall garden phlox that stand proud, rising about 24 to 36 inches tall. Their strong, stately stems support huge red, white, and blue clusters that bloom in abundance all summer long. Fragrant and nectar rich, the bountiful blooms attract pollinators to the garden, including butterflies and hummingbirds, but also make excellent cut flowers for summer bouquets.
The Phlox paniculata varieties in the Patriotic Festival Blend, commonly called tall phlox, garden phlox or simply phlox, are hardy perennials that grow beautifully in Zones 4-8 and are perfect additions to cottage gardens as well as to perennial beds and borders. Their showy blooms are perfect for cutting gardens and butterfly gardens, bringing beauty and function to the landscape.
Patriotic Festival Blend garden phlox performs best in sunny to partially sunny locations with fertile, organic soil that drains freely but remains reasonably moist. To keep plants thriving, water them consistently during dry spells and use mulch in summer to maintain root moisture and temperature. Fertilize in spring to promote vigorous growth but be sure to provide phlox ample air circulation. Removing faded flowers encourages extended blooming, and taller stems may need staking for added support. This variety is deer resistant, adding to its low-maintenance appeal.
