  • Description / Rosa April Moon®

Simply one of the brightest pink roses we have ever seen, April Moon offers big, high-centered blooms bathed in pink tones so rich they almost look neon. What a fashionable statement for the vase or the specimen planting. You could even pin a bloom on your blazer or hat—once people see the incredible size and color, they will be stopping to ask if it's real.

The Native Americans ascribed a symbolic name to each full moon throughout the year, like the Snow Moon (named for the snow in February) or the Corn Moon (named for the harvest in September). The moon in April was known as the Pink Moon, because that was the time of year that wild ground phlox would bloom, carpeting the ground in bright pink tones. Our April Moon hybrid tea is named after this moon because it, too, offers pink color so rich and bountiful that it will have you in awe.

Like other hybrid teas, April Moon thrives in full sun and moist, well-drained soil, preferably on the acidic side. Prune in late winter/early spring, removing dead or weak canes and reducing the existing ones by one third to half. In colder climates, provide April Moon some winter protection to keep it insulated.

This child of Elegant Lady and Beloved gets its lovely form and color from its parents, as well as a vigorous habit and great disease resistance. Let this dazzling pink rose enchant you this summer, and for many summers to come.

NOTE: Tree and patio roses are hardy to Zone 6 regardless of the rose variety grafted to their tops.
