Description / Penstemon Cha Cha™ 'Hot Pink' Beardtongue
Penstemon Cha Cha™ 'Hot Pink' is an evergreen perennial that grows to a mature size of 2 to 3 feet tall and 1 to 2 feet wide and blooms profusely from midsummer to late fall, typically to first frost. The flamboyant tubular flowers are held in dense clusters on long, slender stems that rise above an attractive lush and bushy base of lance-shaped leaves. With bright hot pink color and contrasting yellow throats, the nectar-rich blooms beckon bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds. But they also make stunning additions to cut flower arrangements.
A Penstemon hybrid, commonly called beardtongue, Cha Cha 'Hot Pink' has a compact, upright, well-branched habit and excellent vigor. Ideal for a sunny border or garden bed, 'Hot Pink' also grows well in containers. It's a gorgeous specimen plant but a spectacular mass planting. Cha Cha 'Hot Pink' beardtongue is a must-have in pollinator, cut flower, and rock garden.
Cha Cha 'Hot Pink' beardtongue is an easy-care plant that tolerates heat, drought, and salt and resists damage from deer and rabbits. It grows best in sunny locations with average to dry freely draining soils, including chalk, loam, and sand. Fertilize beardtongue in spring.
