Buxus NewGen Freedom® Boxwood

NewGen Freedom® Boxwood brings dependable evergreen color and structure to the landscape with rich dark green foliage and a naturally dense, rounded habit. The fine textured leaves maintain their attractive appearance throughout the year, making this larger growing selection a useful foundation for formal gardens, borders, and landscape designs that benefit from year round interest.

Part of the NewGen® collection, NewGen Freedom® was selected for improved resistance to boxwood blight, boxwood leafminer, and boxwood psyllid. Gardeners can enjoy the classic appearance of boxwood with added confidence against some of the most common challenges facing the genus. Slightly larger than NewGen Independence®, it is well suited for hedges, screening, foundation plantings, and areas where a fuller evergreen presence is desired.

Hardy in Zones 5 to 9, NewGen Freedom® thrives in part sun to sun and adapts well to average, well drained soils, including clay. Plants mature approximately 3 to 4 feet tall and wide. Its naturally rounded shape requires little pruning, making it an easy care choice for containers, topiary forms, mass plantings, and traditional landscape designs.
