  • Description / Symphoricarpos Proud Berry® Pearl Snowberry

Proud Berry® Pearl Snowberry adds months of seasonal interest with abundant bright white berries that cover the branches from late summer through fall. The clean white fruit stands out beautifully against pale blue green foliage, creating a fresh, eye catching display as many other flowering plants begin to fade. Its compact habit and heavy berry production make it an attractive choice for borders, foundation plantings, and mixed shrub beds where extended seasonal color is appreciated.

Selected for its exceptional fruit set and manageable size, Proud Berry® Pearl offers all the charm of traditional snowberry in a more garden friendly form. This North American native is self pollinating, so a single plant can produce berries without the need for a second variety nearby. Summer flowers attract pollinators, while the berries provide ornamental value well into the season and can be harvested for decorative arrangements. Birds may also visit the fruit after frost.

Hardy in Zones 3 to 7, Proud Berry® Pearl grows best in part sun to sun and adapts to average to moist, well drained soils, including urban and less than ideal sites. Plants mature approximately 24 to 36 inches tall and 24 inches wide with a compact habit. For best performance, cut plants back to about 12 inches in early spring and remove older stems every few years to encourage vigorous new growth and abundant berry production.
