An enchanting summer beauty, 'My Love' is a large-flowering gladiolus with graceful, towering flower spikes that rise 36 to 48 inches tall above a lush fan of sword-like leaves and bloom in fancy flowers that are reminiscent of peppermint candies. But each ruffled and blushing white bloom is uniquely color-splashed with its own painterly pattern of magenta pink splotches and stitches. These candy-striped blooms make great cut flowersperfect for refreshing summer bouquets and mixed flower arrangements.
A Gladiolus x hortulanus variety, commonly called gladiolus, glads, or sword lilies, 'My Love' is a perennial in Zones 7-10. Enhance the beauty of garden beds, borders, containers, and even rock gardens by planting 'My Love' gladiolus bulbs in clusters or masses, and it's an absolute must-have in a cutting garden. These tall plants may need to be staked in areas prone to strong winds.
'My Love' gladiolus are easy to grow and thrive in sunny to partially shaded locations with rich, well-draining soil that retains some moisture for the roots. If your soil is too sandy or heavy clay, improve it with organic matter like peat moss or bark.
