Creating a luminous effect in the garden from spring to late fall, this heirloom species offers both variegated foliage and fragrant blooms. The result is a stunning perennial for sun to partial shade.

Dalmatian Iris, also known as Variegated Sweet Iris or even Orris Root, is a bearded Iris with showy 3- to 5-inch lavender blooms sporting a small but brilliant yellow beard. The flowers begin in late spring in most climates, continuing into early summer on tall, upright plants that spread slowly over time (and can be divided in fall every 3 to 5 years). The flowers are strongly fragrant, making them appealing for the vase as well as the border.

The foliage remains handsome from spring through fall. Gray-green leaves are striped with white on this fine perennial, standing out nicely in any setting. So easy, so carefree! Add it to your landscape this season! Zones 4-9.
